The Steno Medal awarded by the Geological Society of Denmark

The Geological Society of Denmark was founded in 1893 to promote interest in geology and to establish a forum for geologists and others with interest for geology.

The Society arranges meetings with lectures and discussions, arranges excursions, and publishes two publication series – one international: The Bulletin of the Geological Society of Denmark, and one local in Danish: Geologisk Tidsskrift.

Futhermore, the Society awards the Steno medal and administers the Danish Geology prize and other funds.

The Society has approximately 600 members.
