The Geological Society of Denmark was founded in 1893 to promote interest in geology and to establish a forum for geologists and others with interest for geology.
The Society arranges meetings with lectures and discussions, arranges excursions, and publishes two publication series - one international: the Bulleitin of the Geologiscal Society of Denmark.
Furthermore, the Society awards the Steno Medal and administers the Danish Geology Prize and other funds.
The Society has approximately 550 members.
